Show Notes

For her second New York Fashion Week presentation, Veejay Floresca shifted the conversation around her label, moving beyond the eveningwear that defined her debut and toward a broader ready-to-wear vision rooted in her Filipino heritage.

Presented on September 13, Floresca’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection introduced a more expansive wardrobe of separates, tailoring and outerwear while retaining the architectural construction and attention to silhouette that have become central to her design language.

The collection was also deeply connected to the Philippines. Floresca brought traditional Filipino textiles and references into a contemporary New York context, working with woven materials, fringe, sheer fabrics and dimensional embellishment throughout the collection.

One of the most striking examples was her use of banig, a traditional Filipino woven mat, transformed into a dramatic closing dress. Elsewhere, Floresca deconstructed and modernized the Barong Tagalog, reinterpreting the traditional embroidered shirt through sheer fabrics, updated proportions and silhouettes designed to be worn beyond its conventional context.

That tension between heritage and modernity became the defining idea of the collection. Rather than reproducing traditional Filipino dress literally, Floresca translated its materials and visual language into pieces that feel contemporary, wearable and distinctly her own.

The result marks a meaningful expansion for the label. Her February debut established Floresca within the NYFW conversation through highly expressive eveningwear; SS27 begins to define what the Veejay Floresca brand can become beyond it, a ready-to-wear label where tailoring, craft, cultural identity and modern New York sensibility can exist together.

At the center of the collection is Floresca’s approach to authenticity: taking something deeply personal and finding a way to make it relevant to a much wider audience.

Organizer

Veejay Floresca is a designer whose journey has been shaped by persistence, reinvention and a deep creative instinct. Born in the Philippines, she graduated in Fashion Design and Merchandising from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde before earning her master’s degree in Fashion at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She also studied bridal wear design at Central Saint Martins in London. Her talent gained international recognition as a finalist on Project Runway Philippines and the winner of Project Runway US, Season 21, where her eye for construction and storytelling stood out. Now based in New York City, Veejay has built her career around made-to-order, slow fashion, a sustainable path that allows her to create intimately with clients while honing her craft.

Her design philosophy is rooted in balance: simplicity and complexity, elegance and edge, softness and strength. Known for exquisite tailoring and an instinctive understanding of the female form, her work is minimalist with depth, sculptural silhouettes, architectural references, and strategic reveals of skin. Feminine but never girly, sensual but never showy, her designs empower women to feel seen and celebrated with confidence.
