"ODDITIES"

Show Notes

For Spring/Summer 2027, Grace Ling turned her attention toward the things that exist at odds with one another.

Presented during New York Fashion Week on September 13, “Oddities” explores the tension between masculinity and femininity, sensuality and strength, beauty and danger. Rather than choosing between opposing ideas, Ling asks what happens when they exist within the same silhouette.

Her practice sits at the intersection of fashion, sculpture and technology, combining precise tailoring with 3D printing, CGI and unconventional forms.

That tension is embedded throughout SS27. A corseted mini dress constructed from traditionally masculine suiting fabric places softness and structure in direct conversation, while sharply tailored pieces move alongside fluid gowns and draped silhouettes. Cinched vests meet exaggerated trousers, while leather outerwear carries Ling’s darker, gothic sensibility into pieces designed for everyday wear.

The collection’s theatricality remains present in its opening and closing looks. An Adam and Eve-inspired opening look pairs sculpted metallic leaves with an apple, introducing the idea of beauty as something that can also be dangerous. At the other end of the collection, a sculpted raven takes flight across the final look.

Surrounding the runway, a haunting white forest of sculptural branches and cascading silk strands extended the collection’s world beyond the clothes themselves.

But beneath the spectacle, “Oddities” represents a shift for Ling. The collection places greater emphasis on tailoring, construction and wearability, expanding the label beyond its sculptural red-carpet pieces and into a more complete wardrobe.

The result is a collection built around contradiction, where masculine can be feminine, strength can be sensual, and something beautiful can still have an edge of danger.

GRACE LING is about a sense of eccentric elegance and intelligent femininity. It is a fashion label founded on 3D-printing and CGI technology. This allows us to calculate the exact amount of materials needed and create unique forms with zero waste. By fusing technology with traditional methods of craft, this completes a GRACE LING product. Visually recognised for our 3D-printed metal pieces and sculptural silhouettes, these designs are achieved through the rigor of cut and exquisite pattern making. With an emphasis on quality materials, the pieces are timeless with longevity. GRACE LING is a uniform for the cultured modern person - a lifestyle and witty spirit that holds an ongoing dialogue with the world of art, sustainability and multifaceted fashion. The brand is recognised in VOGUE, BoF, Elle, WWD and Forbes amongst many others. Our pieces also exhibit at The MET and are watched and worn by A-list celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Karlie Kloss, Kim Kardashian, Ashley Graham, Emma Chamberlain and more.

GRACE LING is the winner of the Inaugural 2024 CFDA x Genesis House Innovation Grant. In the same year, she is also a CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist and winner of the 2024 CVFF x Gap Inc Award.

Born in Singapore and currently based in New York, Ling studied Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design in New York City and Central Saint Martins in London. During her time there, she worked at renowned brands like Thom Browne and The Row.

Before specializing in Fashion, Grace also studied sculpture and performance art. This fueled the influence to create fashion that is multifaceted, often involving film, performance and collaboration. Having also been modeling since the age of 16, Grace worked both in front and behind the camera, and played the role of a Bridesmaid in the Hollywood movie - CRAZY RICH ASIANS.
